Fundraising Activities
[Pictures from all events can be found here]Family Scavenger Hunt
We hosted a Family Scavenger Hunt (designed for kids 7 and up) on November 1st at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. The hunt was professionally run by Watson Adventures and allowed kids (of all ages) to find the answers to questions on space flight, the universe and other topics. $10 per participant was donated to the Cohen Foundation of Maryland. Thanks for your support!
Charity Silent Auction
We held an online silent online that included everything from an autographed Josh Beckett jersey to gift cards for your favorite local restaurants. Thanks for helping us raise almost $1000!
February 2008 Lab tour and Basketball Game
Recently we had the opportunity to take a tour of Dr. Lorimer's lab, see their $2,000,000 machine, and get a great understanding of the biomolecular work they are doing in laymens terms. After the tour, we were able to bring our group to the Maryland Women's Basketball game against Florida State, which we won in overtime by eight points. There were over 16,000 fans present for the game, and it made for a great afternoon!
2007 Charity Cooking Class
Our first official fundraiser was a cooking class at L'Academie de Cuisine in Bethesda taught by one of L'Academie's talented instructors, Sandy Patterson. We thank everyone for their support - it was a great success!
Other Events
In addition to the events we plan, our relationship with the University of Maryland will enable us to have access to programs, personnel, and facilities at the University. Do you want to meet the scientists we are helping? Do you want to visit the labs in which they work? Would you like to take a behind the scenes tour of the new facilities that will house the BioEngineering Department? These are the types of events that we will organize, in addition to fundraising events, to give you better insight into what your money is supporting.
If you have additional ideas or requests for events, please let us know via email.
